The School Club Innovation Toolkit 2014 is developed as part of the Malaysian government’s effort to nurture a culture of Creativity and Innovation amongst school children. The production of the Toolkit is made possible through a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI), Ministry of Education (MOE) and Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia (YIM) as a catalyst that will spur Malaysia towards becoming an Innovative Nation by 2020.
The School Club Innovation Toolkit 2014 is an innovative enhancement and continuation from the success of the School Club Innovation Toolkit 2013. Last year, the program is implemented in 100 schools, which involves training to 225 teachers and over 19,261 students nationwide. It generates over 3,842 innovative ideas that mark the first step in changing the mindset of the younger generation and eventually the masses towards achieving a more inclusive society that is able to creatively reinvent their societal and economic standing.
Through the strategic partnership with MOE and MOSTI, YIM is reaching out the our future generation, foster a strong bonding with Malaysian children and embark on a critical mission to promote critical thinking, problem solving capabilities and adoption of innovative methodology as part of their lifestyle.
In 2014, the Toolkit will be implemented at 40 schools throughout the country, reaching out to more than 4,000 students and drive creative ideas towards a next step in innovation which is the Prototyping stage. These schools are selected by the State Education Department.
Ultimately, the key and immediate objective for the implementation of the School Club Innovation Toolkit 2014 is to create awareness, educate, nurture and inculcate a culture of innovation amongst school children and to enable them to generate new ideas and become more inventive.
Heading to the future, we hope that these students will become transformation agents that are ready to implement and infuse life changing innovations in the community that they live in.
Tons of Creative Activities
The Kids Invent! Program consists of a series of design and development activities that is conducted using materials provided to the school by YIM.
The aim is to foster creative and problem solving capability amongst students and induce them to adopt out-of-the-box thinking methodology in finding solutions or improving the way they will view a problem and solve it in their daily activities.
YIM Ideation, Turn Student into Innovative Inventors
The YIM Ideation process is a program that aims to nurture the inventive side of a student and turn them into innovative inventors. Either via the creation of a new idea or invention and/or an innovative enhancement to an existing invention/idea, the YIM Ideation will push their creativity and imagination towards the boundary of realisation. In addition, the students will need to understand the viability of their idea in the real world, and generate an idea that is not only inventive but is also commercially viable. This we hope will produce nurture both Technological Innovators and Innovator Entrepreneurs that will lead our countrys future to greater heights.
